Rainbow in the sky

I've been sewing only for 3 years, but that was a long road from non-sewer to today's level. I was like a sewing fanatic, spoiling yards of fabric and storaging the tops which I was not able to quilt, as far as I simply didn't know how to do that. But what a fun and pleasure to dig into the stash now and discover something that worth finishing :)

Today I want to show you one of the tops I decided to finish. I made it 3 years and dozens of quilts ago and I remeber how I was digging it in the wardrobe thinking that one day I will be grown up enough to try doing something with all those open spaces. Although I am not that good as I dream to be one day, I am saucy enough to have a try :)

Look what I got.

My big boy posing with the finished quilt. Can't believe, he was just 2 years old when I was sewing this top. And now he's just finished his first semester at school!

During the quilting I also discovered what a weak sewer I was :) The straight lines were not straight, the top went bubbling all the time, was not square enough and etc etc etc. I spent many hours trying to fix my mistakes. Finally I got a nice flat and almost straight quilt :)
It is very valuable for me as something that I made in the very beginning of my sewing road.

And your first quilt? What was it like? And do you keep it?

Have a nice day! :)

Flowers of the fields

I love making quilts for order, it is just like a fresh air. Every person who loves quilting and patchwork has its own view of what it beauty and what is color and design harmony. And it is a chance for me to have a look at fabrics and textures with new eyes, eyes of customer.
This lovely quilt was made for a young family who just moved to their new apartment. This quilt was thought to live in an absolutely white bedroom, so the customer wanted something bright but not too much, something fresh but not too much, something flying and not heavy, something special to cheer up and both relax.
Wow.
Puzzle.
After long long thinking and choosing she picked four basic colors - greens, purples, pinks and blues which made an amazing combo! Fresh, flying, clean and cheery.
Here it is.

The size is 270 x 230 cm, or 108'' x 92''
If I did not a longarm, I do not know how I'd cope :)

The fabrics I used are manufactured by USA, Korea and Ecuador.

Thanks for reading!

Big changes

Hello everyone! I decided to mahe a new blog, 'cause the old one made me lots of troubles with numerous bugs.
Such a long time since I blogged the last time!
I am still sewing and quilting, of course, but on the other side of the Earth. Me and my family moved to Latin America from Russia, and that made a great change in our lives! Being here is enjoyable! Such a great climate, nice people, fresh food and lots of local cotton that I have already tried for quilts :)
Just have a look at them! All made by me with local cotton of the highest quality, so bright and cheerful!

I can't describe how much I love all these quilts!
One more big dream that came true - I am a happy owner of Juki Quilt Virtuoso longarm now! Wow! I was dreaming of the longarm for all these quilting years, and finally! I have her!
Can't stand to share more close pics of quilting with you.

I am just learning and there're many mistakes in quilting, but I hope to get better soon.

Stay in touch!

And have a nice day!

Julia
